The Global Talent route is for people whose talent is either already recognized or promising in one of the several areas such as art, culture, humanities, science, technology, and engineering. The route was formerly known as the ‘Exceptional Talent’ visa; however, both its name and partially the application process have changed. If your application is successful, you can live and work in the UK for up to 5 years, and at the end of these 5 years, you may be eligible to apply for indefinite leave to remain. How long does it take to get a global talent visa for the UK?
As anybody can discuss, the assessment of being a ‘talented’ individual might be interpreted as a subjective matter in terms of this visa application. To prevent this misconception, the application process is mainly based on 2 steps: First, you need to have proof from an institution in the UK related to your talent area showing that your skills and reputation is sufficient to be recognized as a global talent or promising talented person. This proof is to be presented through an endorsement letter. What does this mean, though?
There are three main talent categories which are academia and research, arts and culture, and digital technology. Moreover, there are many subcategories like science, medicine, dance, cinema, gaming, artificial intelligence etc. Having determined your talent area, you must check the endorsing bodies designated by the Home Office for each category. It is a must that you are endorsed before the Global Talent visa application. At this stage, your talent will be recognized by a relevant body in the UK such as The British Academy or Arts Council England.
The documents you must provide can, of course, vary depending on your talent area. What is certain is that your talent or promising future in your field must be acknowledged by a UK endorsement body.
