The applicant must have been working regularly in the field of architecture within the past five years and must possess internationally published works deemed “exceptional” by RIBA. These works must be recognised in at least two countries.
As part of the application process, the applicant must submit three letters of recommendation that highlight their achievements in architecture, leadership potential, and expected contributions to the United Kingdom, along with up to ten pieces of evidence from the past five years. This supporting evidence may include international media recognition, international awards, and international publications or exhibitions.
For international media recognition, the applicant’s work must have been published in at least two different countries within the past five years and must be regarded as “significant” by RIBA.
If the applicant has won or contributed to at least one international award within the past five years, this can also be included in the application. Examples of such awards include the Aga Khan Award for Architecture, the Venice Biennale of Architecture Awards, and the AIA Young Architects Awards. This list is not exhaustive.
Finally, if the applicant’s work has been published in monographs by international publishers, featured at festivals such as the World Architecture Festival, or exhibited in curated exhibitions such as those at the RIBA Gallery, this evidence may also be submitted.
Such work must be considered “internationally significant” by RIBA.
Global Talent Visa Application Cost
Application Fee:
The total fee for a Global Talent Visa application is £766. If you are applying based on an endorsement, this fee is paid in two stages:
- £561 at the time of your endorsement application, and
- £205 at the visa application stage.
If you are applying on the basis of an eligible award, you must pay the application fee of £766 in full at the time of your visa application. In addition, if you are including your spouse or children in your application, you must pay £766 for each of them separately.
Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS):
As part of the application process, you will be required to pay the Immigration Health Surcharge. This fee is currently set at £1,035 per year, per applicant.
